View Full Version : Vegas Pro8 increase playback velocity

plucks
I have a 1 hour video clip that i would like to condense into a few seconds. You know those sped up clips of a sunset?? Thats the goal.

I cannot seem to find a way to get this outcome.
Right click>properties only has a 4x playback speed;
Increase velocity only has 300%

Is there anyone who has a couple tricks for editing this type of scene?

thanks

You can always combine the two for a 12x speed up then render out your video, import it and do the process over as many times as needed. Depending on the format, this may or may not cause a drop in video quality.

There's a company called Peach Rock Productions which offers Veggie Toolkit (http://www.peachrock.com/software/VeggieToolkit3/veggie-toolkit.html). One feature of it is something called Time Bandit. Quoting their writeup:
# Speed up video beyond the 12x max of Vegas, without multiple renders, to create amazing fast motion effects
# Speed up or slow down multiple video and/or audio events by selecting the time range and a new end time
# Use markers, regions, current selection, etc. to define the starting time range
# Preserves velocity key frame relationships when adjusting speed

This might work for you.

Good luck.

Dennis

PS: I have no relationship with Peach Rock, financial or otherwise.

I really am surprised Vegas has this limitation. THANKS!

How about Ctrl X to squeeze/compress the clip. I don't recall how much it does, and the velocity envelope, then you render it out and do it again.

18 minute segment compressed into 1 minute 9 seconds:
