View Full Version : dual Audio recording

juberg
I use a Canon HDv HV20, and I want to record a piano concert using my top mounted shotgun, as well as using a dual audio monitoring device right into the piano.

I am looking for info about using handheld digital audio recorder like the EDIROL 09HR, or ZOOM H4, or TASCAM DR-7 or DR-100.

Does anyone have some experience with them? Ease of use, audio quality, included software, etc...

They differ much in price and input /output.

I need to make a choice qyuite rapidly...

There are a lot of discussions about the EDIROL and ZOOM. Why don't you do a search? I do not use either, I had considered and decided on the ZOOM H4 last year, for a project, however that fell through.

Hi juberg,I've recorded different instruments over the years but not piano, scratching my head thinking about it,it seems to me you don't want the mics physically touching the piano, but suspended above the strings so your not vibrating the mics or small recorder, that would probably just sound like rumble.I'd use a mic stand and boompole to get in over the strings.I googled recording piano and came up with this.
