The "official" WD-H37 (or WD-H37C) wide angle converters are $150 - $200 new, probably less on eBay, and do 0.7x magnification.
Opteka makes a 37mm lens which is $30 new and does 0.5x (plus a 2x tele in the same kit)
DBRoth sells a 0.5x lens for $20
So these are cheaper and wider than the "official" wide converter. Obviously, I expect them to perform less well, but there is such a thing as "good enough", so even if they are worse than the Canon lens, I may just deem them acceptable, provided they are not too bad.
The question is - is anybody here using these cheap lenses? If so, how do they perform?
