I went out and got a 16gb Extreme III SDHC Card last night (FOR $79.00!!!). On the Package it was still the class 6 version. But inside the package it was the class 10 version. And surprise I cant record in FXP and MXP mode with this card ..... Is there a work around or a solution for this?

I saw this on the Canon website...:

"Because the Speed Class 10 became standardized after camcorders were released, movies cannot be recorded on the Class 10 SDHC cards when the recording mode is set to MXP or FXP."

I would return it but I cant even get a 8gb card for what I paid for my 16gb card.

Hi,

I would return it immediately, and for 79 bucks you can get another 16 GB SD, class 6 or even a class 4.

Let us know...

Good luck getting another card of that size and quality for $80. I have started a case with SanDisk telling them I want the class 6 version that the packaging indicated.

Does canon ever update firmware to possibly add different card classes?

You can get this one very cheap, very good:

http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Class-Memory-SD4-16GB/dp/B0013AV9TW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1249705149&sr=8-1

The camcorder won't benefit of anything higher than Class 4, so you can get almost 3 of these with 80 bucks!

Best,

And you can get a good class 6 16GB card for around $30 at either newegg or supermediastore. You can check card reviews on these sites.

I'm surprised that a card faster than class 6 would give problems. Strange. I'd guess something else changed other than speed on these cards.
