View Full Version : Sony Vegas and Panasonic AVCHD?

T-Mothy Prod
I read in the Vegas 8.1 Update:

Notable fixes/changes

* Added support for reading 1920x1080 AVCHD video. 1920x1080 AVCHD files created by Panasonic camcorders are not currently supported.

My question is in the new Vegas 9.0 Did they fix this? Because I'm very interested in the Panasonic AG-HMC40. It shoots in the AVCCAM format which I read is the same as AVCHD. And I just want to know if they are compatible.

I currently use Vegas 8.0 so I can edit my Nikon D5000 MJPEG Footage. (It wouldn't work in 8.1 for some reason so I had to downgrade to 8.0)

Thanks in advance!

This panasonic avchd converter for mac (http://www.applemacvideo.com/mac-video-converter.html#188) can convert the avchd videos to sony vegas compatible format.
if the sony vegas don't accept the panasonic videos you can apply this third party tool.
I found it good and would like to share the programme.

Vegas is pretty forgiving with filetypes. It should work. If not you can convert it like Kelty said.
