HC1 records but will not playback

Hello,

I can record, but when I try and play back there is just a blue screen. There is also a just barely audible consistent squeak like rubber, while playback. When I fast forward or rewind I can see the video, but there are grey spots or lines.

I've tried the tape cleaners followed the instructions, but that didn't seem to be the problem.

Make sure you're in the right playback mode. If you shot HDV, you have to be in VCR HDV mode for it to play back.

If all settings are correct, you may need a head cleaning, or even a trip to the shop for adjustment.

Okay I checked that and it was okay. When I switched it to DV I could see some footage I shot with another camera in DV but it still skipped. It still won't play my HDV recorded tapes though.

Also I can't seem to find a place that does repairs here in Montreal.
