Mojo as hardware accelerator

I don't understand the workings of Mojo. How does it act as an accelerator if it's using the firewire port? Didn't firewire(400) barely provide the adequate throughput for compressed DV alone?

i went to the avid website and i was confused as to how it works. Im not quite sure...but id like to find out

I would equate it to tugging a trailer with your hatchback. Right Sanchez? Why didn't they make a PCI card?

Compressed DV only uses the 100mbit format of firewire, so full speed firewire (400mbit) would provide enough bandwidth for 4 DV video streams.

(in fact compressed DV only uses about 30mbit per second, so theoretically 400mbit firewire could handle 10+ video streams if your PC/Mac could deliver them)
