Canon has both strikes for and against when using for a Helmet Cam recorder. + is it's small and has the better type of AV connector...

If I recall correctly you need to first initiate the recording sequence with your wireless remote control, then switch over to the aftermarket Lanc remote (also believe your model has this option)...

Your problem is one of these:
(1) Power supply is not working - this means dead batteries or faulty battery holder. Many low price bullet cams are very power sensitive. They need 10-12v....
