I read from Sony's website and personally experienced that miniDVD+RW cannot be used for 16:9 wide redcording. It's the problem with + RW media. -RW and -R are good for 16:9.

Sony has mentioned in thier website that miniDVD+RW currently doesn't record in 16:9 wide aspect ratio. MiniDVD-R/-RW are the better choice as of now if you are keen on wide aspect video.
