Get the Sanyo VPC-HD2000 or the Panasonic HDC-HS300 both have good low light capabilities according to their recent reviews and also plenty of manual controls. Or perhaps you should get the Panasonic...

Thanks for the link, just saw the video and could see the difference. DV video looks a little blurry in comparison to HDV. Read in Wikipedia I think that the HDV audio has lower bitrate than DV...

Go for MiniDV or Solid State. HDD has a reputation of being fragile to drops.... you can lose a big bunch of information with a simple drop, not that you have to drop it but you never know...
