'Flash Mode' menu option
Hey I noticed this weird menu option on my TRV335E when I got it back from the Sony Service centre. I hadn't noticed it there before. It's not selectable but it's there. Here's a...

Here's a still image I took from some footage I shot last night of a police chopper with my TRV355E.
Yes, it's not a very clear image but keeping in mind this was in the middle of the night, I was...

Don't use USB, it's very poor quality. Use firewire, G5 should have it. Also Imagemixer is a very cheap and poor program - I found it very difficult and tacky too. I now use Ulead Videostudio which...

Remember this is the PAL version we're talking about.
Still, I'd be very suprised if it didn't have AV In and DV Out especially. I'm starting to think it could be a mistake on the Sony Web Site, and...

I havn't used the 460E, but in my opinion the TRV355E is a much better camera.
TRV355E:
800,000 Gross Pixels (400,000 for video).
SuperSteadyShot
Controls on the Camera Body
Mic/Lanc Input
Ok Low...

Good news. After 4 and a half weeks of waiting my TRV355E is back from the Sony Service centre fixed.
I didn't have to get another replacement model afterwards. Yay.

Just had a quick play, and you can get some bright colours in VideoStudio just by increasing the brightness/contrast/gamma. Be careful to make sure the clips don't look over-exposed.

He edited his post and added the link, so it wasn't there when I first saw it.
The pics look awesome. Man I doubt my cheap Videostudio 7 SE Basic could do that, but I wish it could.

This sounds like what happened to my camera (not a VX2100 though).
I'd only had it for a couple of months, then one day it just malfunctioned. Couldn't do anything at all, and whether it was...

Firewire cards are very cheap, very easy to install, and work extremely well in terms of quality, file size, convenience etc.

Hmm yeah Sony's DCRHC1000E sells for $3,299.00 in NZ, so it'll be something around there I'm guessing. But I'm not thinking of buying one, just wondering.

I would often use my normal 20x zoom with the camera on a tripod, and get some lovely shots.
But to even need (the equivalent) of even 40x zoom (or eg. 2400mm) you would have to be a spy or...

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but here are my tips.
If it's a widescreen TV, record in widescreen.
Use the best quality type of cable you can get. eg. Component, S-Video etc and gold plated...

If you put on a teleconversion lens for example a 3x lens, would that convert a normal 20x optical zoom to 60x? That would be...

Digital8 cameras can actually be very good quality, but like micj said you have to look at all the specs to decide how the quality will be.
I bought a TRV355E which had a 1/6th inch chip with...

Tell your friend to rent a backwards compatible NTSC Digital8 Camera when the boat docks at the next city. Also tell him to tell his wife for future tapes to dub them onto VHS.

HELP! Malfunction?
Ok I was just using my Digital8 camera (TRV355E) to capture a few seconds of video via Firewire to my computer, which I did fine.
Then I unplugged the firewire and took the tape out, as usual. A few...
