You have not given us much to go on. When you say "just stops", does V8 Pro abort, lock up, exit? Notwithstanding, I would first make sure that enough memory is available.

ImageMixer?
The ImageMixer software that came with my HF11 does this, puts it back in the correct folder format, so the camera can play the video back. Does your HF100 not have similar software?

I cannot imagine using a pro camera to make YouTube videos either. If you really want to upgrade to HD for YouTube, you could try the Flip-HD, or one of the Sanyo Exacti's. A little cheaper than...

Yes, removing the battery does work, but I am not sure whether the tape is being stuck in the mechanism. Normally when you switch off, you can hear the tape being freed.
