To capture DV via firewire is easy like a pure file transfer operation.

I have a 1996 Sony Hi8 cam: at first I made S-VHS, in 1998 I edited first S-VHS on my PC in MJPEG, later I was able to burn a DVD, and finally was possible to capture directly in MPEG2. Good.

I think the visible image of sound peaks don't matches with the real peaks, it's so in 9 plus version too: studio it's not a sound editor.
I think graphs are not a good tool to synchronize...
