I disagree. If the XL-1 and XL-1s each have 1/3 inch CCD's, then why can't the 16X9 area of the XL-2 chips be 1/3 inch? If it can, then wouldn't the whole 4X3 area of the chip be 'oversized' compared to a standard 4X3 1/3 inch chip?
