I am from Romania, I use jvc
I use adobe & pinnacle for editing and it works
the ieee connector problem I've encounter it with sony pd 150 also when I connected and disconnected to many times with the power on

for sure a jvc camcorder is not as reliable as a sony
BUT!
I believe that the image quality from the jvc is better

especially when we talk about the hd offer (z1 vs hd 101)

i would go for jvc because they use the fujinon lenses and for the better quality of their ccd's - what I do not like at jvc is the mechanical parts
