Thumbs down Very disappointing

I purchased a JVC Everio GZ-MG20 afew a months ago expecting it to be cutting edge technology but how wrong was I. The quality of the footage when transferred to DVD is woeful!!! In the manual & on JVC's website it says you get 4.5 hrs of DVD quality footage but this is not the case.
I initially thought that maybe it was the software that came with the camcorder or that my pc was not up to scratch so I took my PC into a local computer shop to have it looked at. They told me that there is no problem with my PC or the software it was the camera.
I cannot believe that having spent nearly £500 on a camcorder that the I don't get better quality recording. If anyone can shed any light on JVC's Everio camcorders either to say that they are no good or if I am doing something wrong when copying the footgage to DVD, I would be extremely grateful.
