My own research reveals the E is a european extension and the device has the feature set of the AG-DVX100. This is a PAL recording unit. If the title is AG-DVX100P (AP) then this is the American model- probably NTSC.

I have decided to continue with the purchase as what else is there for $2k anyway - it's a good start. (I hear the panasonic HMC150 is great value)
