301 Optional lenses
Has anyone purchased the optional telephoto or wide angle lenses for the 301, and are you pleased with the results.
Thanks,

I bought the $189 wide angle for my 201 and am well please. I pretty much see it as a must for indoor work.

Could you expand your explanation a bit? Also, anyway you could show us the difference in shots between the normal lens and the one you picked up? Perhaps just still jpeg's? I'd just like to see the difference.
Thanks,
Marcus

In tight spaces, it let's you get more in view without have to stand clear across the room. Here's a quick snapshot where I was about 6-7 feet from the Christmas tree. With the wide angle, I'm able to take videos where I wouldn't otherwise be able to shoot.

Nice tree
Nice tree .... real or plastic ??
That's a big difference .. I'm impressed.
Do you notice any distortion if you zoom with the wide angle on ?

Very cool, I'll have to pick one of those up. Before that tho, is there anything we can do so that out 201/301's pick up more color inside?
Thanks,
Marcus

More light
More light = more colour. True of any digital video camera in low light situations
the 3watt video lights work great for anything under 3-4 metres, otherwise a bit more power is required.

As with any wide angle lense, you do get some distortion. Looking close enough you can see the door and window frame have a slight bow due the fisheye effect of any wide angles. Unless you have a lot of straight lines running the height or width of your frame, I don't think there is any noticible distortion. This is especially true with full motion video. Tis better to get both your daughter and her birthday cake in frame rather than just her cake.
In parks and zoos, I usually just keep the wide angle on even when I could take it off. I've never noticed any distractable distortion. The distortion issue is why I went with the more expensive wide angle for fear the cheaper one would be just that.
Sorry I had to scrunch down the frames to postage stamps and convert to grayscale. I had to get the file size down in order to post it without exceeding the measly attachment size limitation of this board. The tree is artificial. I didn't think I'd ever want artificial but it sure is more convenient and looks a whole lot better than the artificial trees of my youth.
