I just purchased a JVC GR-D72US. I read some reviews that stated it has analog-to-digital pass through. I assumed that meant I could hook it up to my VCR and my computer at the same time and copy VCR tapes into my computers hard drive. In actuality, you must copy the VCR tape on to a mini-DV tape in the camera before it can be sent to my computer. (An extra step that probably will take away sharpness.)

What is the technology called that allows you to avoid that step, and allows you to go directly from the VCR to the Mini-DV and straight into the computer(withouth making a tape)? Thanks for any input.
