I bought from New egg , bh and soundprofessional

I bought gear fro Newegg, bh and sound professional and NewEGG was FANTASTIC, i ordered everything on friday. and new egg had my camera here on tuesday, sound professional had my wind muff here on wedsday and BH is holding up the show , still have not recieved my gear from them and it is thursday.. Bh is legit but i dont think they do you any favors either. I ordered one package at 5am on friday and one on sunday and both were shipped the same day as the other. my friday package should have left sooner but it didnt.
i would recomend either of these retailers but newegg is my first choice and i will take bh slow delivery into consideration next time.

B&H closes at sun down on Friday and is closed all day Saturday in accordance with the Jewish sabbath. If you ordered something on Friday, I'm not at all surprised it didn't ship until Sunday. If you order something from other vendors on Saturday, chances are it won't ship until Monday. So you lose one day either way.

Good luck.

Well it was 2 days different

It wound up taking bh 2 days longer than newegg and 1 day longer than soundprofessionals. everything was ordered at 5am on friday morning. I did order one extra thing on sunday and that item shipped the same day from bh as the item ordered on friday morning from them.

I dont think it is as much that bh is slow as it is that new egg is super fast, newegg just makes others look slow. bh took 3-5 days just like they said . One good thing from bh, the battery came charged up which was nice. I just think 2 days difference in vendors that use the same ups service is something to consider if you want your stuff in a hurry. we live in an era when more an more things are ordered over the net , and will get even more so. in all honesty delivery time will play a huge roll in vendors of the future imo, no small detail imo. On the other hand it is nice to have a solid company with huge inventory and a strong reputation like BH when you need something for sure, with no games or tricks attached. I buy a lot over the net, monitors , computers, cameras, software, auto parts, and more. It is a much better experience when the merchandise is here fast. No matter who you use you will save tons of money by ordering any of these vendors over best buy or circut city. I saved over 300 bucks easily this time. and I will wait a week to save 300 bucks every time. brick and mortar stores are history imo.

If I wamted tp figure out whether women are taller than men, there is a good chance I'd get the wrong answer by comparing the first woman and the first man that I see. The same idea could apply to judging B&H vs. Newegg.

I've placed many orders with B&H. My usual experience is to order from them on Tuesday evening and receive the merchandise on that Thursday or Friday.

I was looking a prices for a Sony DVD405 and ran across Rainbowtronics. Low price on the camcorder, $599 but...

What is up with Rainbowtronics? A 10 pack of DVD-R for $99 !!
http://www.rainbowtronics.com/pop_p...roduct_id=10657

How about a three piece set of filters for $399 ??
http://www.rainbowtronics.com/pop_p...roduct_id=10352

My personal favorite, a no fault replacement plan for $649. Ummm, in theory, one could buy a spare camcorder from them for less than that.
http://www.rainbowtronics.com/pop_p...roduct_id=11894

Anyway thought some folks might like a good laugh.

May I add 3 more scam sites ! ! !

Stargate Photo.com
The Digital Expo.com
USA Photo Nation.com

All three basically done the same thing, just in different order. They called me after I placed an order, or I had to call them.
lst. refused to sell me the DCR-SR100 without purchasing the accessories at a larger price.
2nd. called them, told them I already had the accessories, said the order would go thru and immediately received an email cancelling the order.
3rd. called them to confirm my order and they told me the camcorder was being shipped from China .. had to buy the 300.00 software to convert the language from Chinese to English. So I cancelled.

I'm still searching for the camcorder I want, but from now on I will call and not give them my credit card info until I know they will ship.

My two cents worth.

The simple solution is not to do business with any rip-off companies like those. Checkout http://www.resellerratings.com/ before buying and I recommend B&H because I’ve always had good luck with them.

Want to buy GreyMarket. Really!

outside of the total scumbags who don't deliver, try to upsell you worthless junk accessories and fake warranties, is there a decent place to actually buy a grey market camera? Yeah, I know it may have a warranty that isn't valid in the U.S. and the stuff may be in Japanese, I don't care. As long as it is a sealed factory camera.

I don't plan on keeping it very long anyway.

My issue is that HD is around the corner for a lot of us, I refuse to pay $2400 for another Sony VX-2100. It just doesn't make sense. SD is going out in the not too distant future.

Barring the Grey Market, I could rent one.

Thanks
GRX

Store reliability

Hi,
I have decided Optura 50 to purchase, but it is available at very few stores. When I went to Amazon.com, there is a seller "tennisluva24", who is giving Optura 50 in 455$ and it looks like cheapest price, another one is "bazil749".
But I am not sure, it is a store or what. I am not able to find it on resellerratings.com
Can somebody guide me if these type of deals are reliable enough ? Should I go and invest, trusting over amazon.com
Another store is overstock.com, whose prices are also less, but its rating on resellerratings.com is not good. Shouldn't I go for that ?
Please help me.
Thanks
Abhishek

I have decided to make this list to help customers make the best buying decision when shopping for electronics through a magazine ad, or the Internet. It's amazing no matter how many warnings that are out there before someone buys from a "Scum Bag" outfit most of them in Brooklyn, NY aka King County, NY! People will still take a chance and go ahead and let themselves get ripped off.

This list will grow as it will take time to add all the names, addresses, and web site URLs for the list. Be careful and do your research before you buy. The best and safe way to do this is to go to the manufacturers web site and take a look at the list of authorized dealers.

Be careful out there it's a fraudulent jungle!

This is a great idea and could be very helpful. Just one question - is this list a list of who to stay away from or who you recommend buying from?

I think they are called 'The Non-Authorized Mail Order Dealers! aka "Scum Bags"' because they are not recommended.

This is an old thread and the list is probably outdated. I have dealt with B&H a few times over the years. I have always had excellent results with them: B&H Photo

I have also had excellent results with newegg for about three years: NewEgg

There are other good dealers; but I do not have any experience with them in purchasing camcorders.

Please check ResellerRatings before you make a purchase with any on-line merchant, Enter the store name in the "Enter STORE Name: (i.e. Newegg)" search block.

There are many on-line merchants who are not as honest as their web site might claim.

Re

Hi!

I need advise in the buying of SONY HDR-SR12e. In my country this set is selling for about US$1790

I've checked out many sites and read the authoriszed/non-authorized dealers' threads here

Many of the sites sell the SR12 (NTSC) model and others provide only local (USA) warranty

My needs are

a) SONY HDR-SR12e (PAL) model
b) international warranty

I'm not so concern if the set fails as I can get it repaired by SONY service center in my country if I have the international warranty.

This site 42photo.com seems to meet both my requirements. If I'll to add

SR12e - US$1014.99
4-yr int'l warranty - US$299.99
Shipping - US$100 (assume)

Total = US$1414,98

I can save a few hundreds to purchase some accessories on the net

http://www.42photo.com/pd-productid-14459-k-sony_hdr_sr12e_120gb_(hd)_hard_drive_digital_camco rder_(pal).htm

Can somebody advise? Is there a better site?

Thanks
