Great, another web site goes to multiple page reviews, with no "printable version."
Well, guess CCI will be coming off my bookmark list...
The new site format is great, other than that major flaw.
I may check back once in a while, to see if the problem is fixed...then I might consider bookmarking it again.

With all the new cam having less and less manual features and connectivity... it might be interesting to say which has what.
Taking the GS500 as an example :
This cam has :
Focus ring
Mic In
...
This cam doesn't have:
Headphone out
...
Could also explain how to go around these problems in another article.
E.g. if your Cam doesn't have a Headphone jack, you can overcome that through using the AV OUT and a booster... etc.
Just an idea

point me in the right direction
hello everyone i am new to all this forum stuff and camcorder stuff. i am looking to buy a camcorder to start filming bands at their gigs as well as making music videos for them and the odd muck about movie. im just not too sure exactly what i should be looking at. i am willing to spend £300 to about £550 (maybe can be pushed a little). i have been looking mainly at mini dv cameras but there are that many different types and price ranges im not sure what to go for. as i will be filming at gigs most of the time it will be dark so i need a camera that can handle the dark and still look good. i also want the picture quality to be of a good standard as i will be seeling the dvd back to the bands once i have edited it. can anyone help me or give me a pointer in the right direction. im ot sue if mini dv is the format i should be loking at. i would like a camera with an extra xlr port so i can have an outer microphone. your help and advice would be much appreciated thank you very much for your time peace out

hanney, this forum is mainly for comments about the site itself. You want to ask your questions in a technical forum. I recommend you go to the Main Forum at http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/f1 and ask there. Just copy all the stuff you wrote above and paste it into a new thread. You'll get tons of help.
Good luck.

transfer Hi8 to DV tape or to computer
Am searching for the absolute cleanest way to transfer Hi8 to either DV tape or into a computer. I have the Sony Hi8 deck, EV-S7000 which has an S-video out and was made prior to DV tape. Here's the issues:
1) some of the Hi8 tape has 'video tearing' - those little black lines - and some have blue and red artifacts. Are these traits part of the tape and/or would the original camcorder (long gone) provide the best playback or
2) Would a digital8 camcorder with a firewire out and digital gadgetry during the playback 'sort of' clean the video signal
thanx, ElSupremo

You would be better off starting a seperate thread or joining a thread pertaining to analog to digital conversions.
I do not know how bad the 'video tearing' is or in what form. I do not think a Digital8 camcorder is the best answer. I would go with a Canopus analog to digital converter. You might carefully read through these threads which deals with analog to digital conversions: Hi8 Video Transfer

I'd like to see somewhere on the site, whether it be on the blog or elsewhere, the list of UPCOMING reviews and the ESTIMATED review dates.
For example, I am waiting for camcorderinfo's review of the new Samsung SC-HMX20C and I would like to know when that might happen. If the site had a list of upcoming reviews and their estimated review dates, and the review for the SC-HMX20C is estimated to take a month, then in my particular case, I would know not to wait for the review since I want to buy a camcorder within a week or two. However, if someone can wait 3-6 weeks to buy a camcorder, then that person would know that they might want to hold off on purchasing their camcorder until the review comes out in a month.

Besides the ratings list of all the camcorders I'd like to see 'best of' categories. Beginner, Professional, HD, SD etc.
