Please advise on upcoming purchase

Hi, I am taking a film production class and need a camcorder. I actually already have a JVC-270. I just realized it has no mic inputs which will get in the way when I start producting more complex films.

I am considering the Canon ZR500 at the moment, but this seemed like a place full of knowledge. So, please advise.

I don't want to spend more than 350 at the very maximum. I want mic inputs. It would be nice to have a headphone output for monitoring, but not vital. Ease of upload to a computer is nice, as well. I have considered a memory card type of thing, but am having trouble finding info on them.

If I do use a tape, I want DV. Thanks much in advance!

The ZR500 is one of the smartest choices you can make and is the best 1 chip camcorder of 2006 so far! All the other models that were offered, such as the GS39 was just a downgrade from last year and the year before. That is pretty stupid and weird. However, you can get a GS35 for about $370 for better video perfomace, better low light perfomcace, better manual control, better audio options, better playback option, better LCD, top loading, better navigational system and a remote for only $370!

What about the 65, then? That seems to only cost a tad more and has 3ccd's.

Go for the GS65. It has 3CCD's, manaul control, better audio options and a slew of other features.
