Is this class action lawsuit even going to happen? I have gotten nowhere. I contacted the BBB of New Jersey and Samsung pretty much said that it wasnt a problem and nothing would be donesince it was no longer under warranty. I have also contacted the Missouri Attorney General, still waiting.
What needs to be done to get this going?

Samsung Defective CCD Class Action Petition

I'm wondering the same thing - what's the next step here? Has anyone contacted a lawyer?

23_SkiDoo started this thread in October 2006. Does anyone have an action plan?

Smile Samsung Defective CCD Class Action Petition

Hi everyone!

By now we all know that Samsung has offered to fix the black screen nightmare for $150 (plus shipping). Samsung has no intention to recall SCD 107's and own responsibility for maufacturing defective camcorders. The BBB has not done much. When I told them over the phone that I wanted Samsung to recall SCD 107's, I was referred to 'County of Bergen Office of Consumer Affairs' @201-336-6400 to file a complaint. I did call the above number and was given an address where I could send a letter of complaint stating how this problem should be resolved. I think we should ALL call this office and follow through with a letter saying that we would like for Samsung to RECALL their defective camcorder. We should not settle for another quick fix scam of $150 plus shipping. When writing Bergen, remember to include all information like date of purchase, warranty date, model #, etc. in your letter. They will give you instructions over the phone. Bergen County needs to hear from us!!!
Let's not give up!

I have tried to call the number and got a recording that the number only accepts local calls. I received a letter from the MO Attorney General with a copy of the BS letter that Samsung sent. I am writing back and saying that this matter is NOT settled and that something needs to be done. Samsung needs to stand up and accept the fact that they sold us a defective product.
What do we have to do to file a lawsuit?

SCD 107 black screen

I too am having problems with my camcorder. I went to a service tech and he told me he could fix it but it would cost $200. He is also the person that told me that many people were having this problem. He said Sony was the one who made all of the CCDs for several of the camcorder companies (JVC, Panasonic, ect) and every one had recalled the CCD except Samsung! He suggested that I call them so I did and they too said they could fix it for $200. He also told me there was a petition/class action lawsuit I could look for so here I am.

1) T. Meakins
2) TN/Shelby
3) SCD 107
4) serial # v62567cx506763v
5) purchased 12/04 in Virgina
6) failed about 10/06 I do not know how many hours are on it. Lets just say I don't make a living as a camera person.

!! Samsung Defective CCD Class Action Petition !!

First purchased SCD101 in August 2005, stopped working (blank LCD & viewer) around March 2006, returned to store, they sent it for repair, then returned to me stating I had to send it to Samsung. Sent it to Samsung in May 2006 and they replaced it with a refurbished SCD103 that I finally received September 2006. So now, eight months later, same problem, different model.

When I called support desk today, they told me that the warranty period was over because they go by purchase date of original sale and not by their replacement date.

I really do not believe that Samsung sells disposable camcorders, but I have a harder time believing it's just my bad luck to have had two camcorders that do not last much longer than six months and with sporadic use at best.

2) QC/Canada
3) SCD103
4) A3L04DELTA2
5) September 2006
6) May 2007

8) First email sent May22/07 to oop@seca.samsung.com
9) none sent

Thumbs up !! Samsung Defective CCD Class Action Petition !!

I too would like to join the class action suit against SAMSUNG. I bought my SCD 107 in May 2004 @BEST BUY. The LCD started blacking out in July of 2006. At first, I thought maybe I was using bad tape and kept changing new tapes. Anyway, when I took in the camcorder to Bestbuy, they did not mention anything about other customers with similar problems. I'm questioning Bestbuy's integrity as well.

1. M. Mekonnen
2. Anaheim, CA
3. Model: SCD 107
4. ID#: A3L04DELTA2
5. 5/2004
6. CCD failed 7/2006
7. Approx time 6 hrs
9. Filed complaint with BBB on 5/24/07
