Hello guys,
I have a question.
Do the policeman have the rights to look the footages on our camcorders or cameras , when we are in the street ?
It seems that ,expecially in USA, whereever u go with your camera, they look at you stange.

Hmmm...I don't notice people looking at me any differently when I have a camera with me.
I have heard a story or two about people getting alarmed if someone is photographing something that may be perceived as a threat to something. However, it does depend upon what country (and even perhaps state) you're in. IE, if you're videotaping the inside of a bank, including security cameras & such, yeah, they may start looking at you strangely & ask you what you're doing. Likewise, if you're an adult & go to a school yard alone & start taping the kids, someone may get unnerved.
Also, some places (such as museums or performances by SAG members) completely disallow photography of any kind and will insist you delete the footage.
OTOH, if you're not recording anything "suspicious" (IE, you're simply recording your kid's school play or your family at Disneyland), the authorities would need some other initial factor to question you. IE, say if you were smoking a joint or something.

Yes, under certain circumstances.

There are over 600,000 police officers in the United States. Which ones are looking at you strangely? Maybe I can go talk to them...
I have been to over 20 countries. I suppose some people may have looked at me strange.
I wonder why Police Officers look at you strange. Have you ever tried saying something like "Hello, my name is Rich, I am a visitor, can you recommend a good restaurant?"
These officers did not seem to think that I was strange:

These two officers posed for me....

I asked this officer if I could take pictures. He said "sure".

This officer was teaching gun safety. He posed for me.

I encountered this military law enforcement officer while walking my dogs. He was busy and did not have time to pose for pictures. I didn't really want to get closer anyway....

It seems? You can judge what people are thinking by looking at them?
Maybe you are acting suspicious?
You've been asking about small concealable cameras for over a year. You walking around trying to take sneak pictures of people.
You sneaking up behind Police Officers at night? That would be pretty dumb.
The above is strictly my opinion...

Ewww....
In that case, I'd also like to point out, I do think if you are taking photos of "people on the street", I do believe they have the right to object & call the authorities if you refuse to delete the footage. IE, if someone is in a public place where a certain amount of privacy is expected, such as a public restroom, fitting room, etc it IS illegal to photograph/tape them without their consent. That could be why they are looking at you strangely... And yes, the authorities can ask to look at your photos/footage if they catch you doing that.

Not to mention the obsession with using Nightshot during the day and trying to find "invisible" IR lights. Something's not right.

You said "our cameras". I don't know who you are referring to when you say "our". Is this your personal camera or are you part of a group? If you were part of a group and taking video of bridges or tall buildings or airports you can bet the police would interested in what you had on your camera. You really need to be more specific about what exactly you were doing that brought on this paranoia of yours.
Or maybe you just have the opinion that the USA is the home of oppression or something. I guess you must have missed all those famous police videos like the Rodney King video and other similar type situations. Yes there are police that make mistakes in the USA. We punish them when we catch them in the act although the Rodney King situation wasn't really what it was made out to be in the media IMO.
Why do you have this opinion of America? That's what I would really like to know because the amount of propaganda about our nation floating around is astounding. Europeans think we are a police state where anyone who looks sideways gets sent to prison and executed. The Middle East thinks we are always looking for ways to steal money from poor people which is pretty funny when you think about it since poor people don't have any money to steal.
I guess we shouldn't expect people to have a very good opinion of us if all they see of America is what Hollywood produces. But from where I sit the abuse of power in this world is centered in far flung regions of the globe and what we do here in the good old USA is a drop in the bucket compared to stuff like the Cultural Revolution, the Killing Fields, Rwanda, the Darfur Genocide, massive corruption in government in Mexico, the slave nation of North Korea, the gulags and purges of Russia, the child sex industry of southeast Asia, the two great scourges that came out of Europe in the 20th century which were communism and fascism, Apartheid, etc. etc. etc.. To look at the USA as an oppressor nation is just bizarre and totally the result of propaganda. Yes there was a time when Americans took advantage of others but since then America has become the model of self sacrifice for the sake of others. How many nations have ever gone to war to liberate another nation from an aggressor like the USA did in Kuwait?
My apologies to the moderators here but I like my country and I don't like hearing it get bashed. And of course I have no idea if that is what was happening in this thread. I just wanted to point out that America is not the home of the KGB or anything like it and unless someone is doing something very suspicious with a camera the chances they will be harassed by the police are practically nil. Where I live most LEO's are fine human beings doing a tough job for too little money. They not only don't harass people they often help them in ways that aren't part of the written laws. We shouldn't forget that cameras can be used to make plans that threaten the peace and security of people and if a foreign national or anyone else is seen doing something suspicious with a camera they should expect suspicion by the police.

Just to clarify. Yes, I like to get pics of people around the city.
I love lifestyle pics, but not all the people like that.
I know there was a guy, who was going around the street on a skateboard, because he did not had legs, and was shooting people.
I loved that kind of photography.
Just to point what I like.
I love alsop the pics where u can see the sky behind them, from the bottom to the top.
Also I love IR vids/pics, because they show u a complete different world, that our human eye can not see.
