My 2nd JVC GY-HD200ubx problem...

----------
addendum
----------
For whatever reason, it works now... I'm not sure why, but I'm knocking on wood. Considering that this is definitely not my first firewire camera interface (not to mention, certainly not my first firwaire device) I'm going to make the bold and biased assumption that these JVC cameras are VERY touchy when it comes to their firewire... read the manual first and follow explicit directions!!!!!

My SECOND HD200 just showed up about an hour ago... the reason it's my second is because the firewire didn't work (out of the box) on the first one... NEITHER DOES THIS ONE!!!
ugh!

I might be doing something wrong, so let me know...

Camera settings out of the box, and left alone...
plug in firewire to PC
plug in firewire to camera
turn on PC
turn on camera
put tape in camera
switch camer to VTR mode
open Adobe Premiere... nothing

open system tools and check for any connected device resembling the HD200... nothing...

am I missing a camera setting somewhere??? am I that dense??? I've been through the instruction manual several times...

heart racing... blood pressure rising... rage taking over... Mr. Furious - Mystery Men circa 1999

I have JVC HDV camera and you want to make sure that your I link output (firewire) is set to MPEG-2 if your footage was recorded in high definition rather than DV which works only with standard definition.
