NV-DS29B Problem...HELP !!!!

Hi all,
Appreciate any info you can give me.

Panasonic NV-DS29B and I am having the following
problem.

When I insert the cassette and turn on the camera it powers up as normal and after 2 or 3 seconds the Power LED starts to flashe twice and pauses and repeats this and then down powers.
I cannot view the cassette or record on the cassette....... Occasionally it
is OK and works fine for a few minutes.
I have been through the manual cover to cover, been to panasonics website
(waste of time) and nowhere does it state what this flash code is for.
I thought it may be condensation but the camera has never got damp at all,
However I dried it as stated on the manual.... without any apparent
difference.
The only other thing I can see in the manual is a reference to an internal
battery, which powers the clock, and it states that it has to be charged for
3 hours (which I did) and it lasts then 3 or 4 months without charging
again.... now after this charge the camcorder worked..... may just have been
a coincidence because as previously stated it does work sometime...........
It states that "THE BATTERY MUST BE REPLACED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL".... I wonder if this battery has exhausted itself.... the camera is about 1 1/2 years old & has anyone replaced one, if so how !

TIA

JK

Smile Ds29B power light etc. problem

The power light flashing seems to be a general error signal, no particular symptoms other than the camera doesn't work.

Taking the right hand side off the camera (6 screws to remove) check all ribbon cables are still in place then carefully check the functionality of the camera, usually all is O.K., be careful replacing the cover to ensure no cables are trapped.

The battery symbol on the screen is reported in the manual as being a low power internal battery warning, after many days with the damn thing plugged in (as advised by the manual) the symbol is still there, just continue using the camera ... after several months now the symbol is still there and seems to have no other side effects.
Suggestions of replacing the battery seem not to be justified after reading many other reports, also the battery is soldered behind the rear battery panel, not just an open, replace and close operation.

Hope this helps

Good Luck !

P.S. anybody got anything useful out of Panasonic from all these questions ?? I'm sure that person needs a medal and a mention somewhere !
