Problems with 1394 & samsung camcorders

i've a HP pavilion zt3000 notebook with an integrated IEEE 1394 firewire port. And i've a samsung digicam vp-d5000i camcorder.

I tried to attached a 4-4 pin firewire cable to the notebook and the camcorder. The camcorder display a "DV" icon upon attaching to the notebook. But in my notebook, the windows xp pro with service pack 2 does not detech the camcorder at all. No auto-detection of any kind.

But when i tried to connect the camcorder to a pc with firewire, it works fine. So i suspect my firewire port in my notebook is spoilt, thus i got myself a pcmia firewire card.

Thus from a 6-4 pin cable to connect from the pcmia to the camcorder. But still, it does not detect the camcorder at all.

What could be the problem now??? Am i missing some drivers or patch??? Someone please help. Thanks

OHCI compliant? Camcorder Power supply?

With the notebook - you must use the camcorder power supply (not just the camcorder battery)

Have you tried to verify that the notebook port and the PCMCIA card are OHCI compliant.

Since you got it to work in a desktop - there must be some problem with the HP...

vp-d5000i

I have the same problem with my Packard Bell EasyNote A. How do I know if my 1394-port and the PCMCIA card are OHCI compliant?
Furthermore the USB-device driver DVC.sys is not digitally signed.
Thank you for reply!
