16x9 recording with PD150 and PD170

Does anyone know if shooting in 16x9 is different with the PD170? that is, are the electronics different? My impression with the PD150 is that shooting in 16x9 involved the addition of a matte to the top and bottom (though I may be mistaken)
Can anyone shed any light on this?

thanks!
vince

Although I've never shot with a PD150, only a PD170, but I've followed the press and the feedback on both of these cameras and I've heard only that they are identical in how they make a 16:9 image. Sorry. that's all I can tell you.
