Problem with MPEG Edit Studio Pro LE Ver. 1.0
I need help figuring out a deep software problem within the MPEG Edit Studio Pro LE Version 1.0.
When I initially installed the program I did not have this problem, it happened all of a sudden, probably related
to the installation of some other unrelated software, although I cannot re-trace my steps to figure out which additional software was the culprit.
The problem is that the fonts in the panes of the program have changed style and point size so that some of the buttons are no longer readable. This is especially a problem within the Timeline. The "Video", "Audio" and the "Create" buttons are barely readable because only the first half of the word actually appears on the button. A worse problem is that the time display on the top of the Timeline pane is useless because the font and the point size does not allow the time to be displayed in a manner that is readable. The odd font is also used on the second line of the Summarizer 1 pane.
However, the fonts that appear within the actual Windows XP windows panes are displayed correctly, meaning the words: Monitor 1, Bin, Summarizer 1 and Timeline on the top left hand corner of each pane is normal.
Also, the fonts displayed on the windows after selecting Configuration under File or after selecting Create have changed to the same odd font that is being used in the Timeline pane.
I have tried a number of things to correct this. First I uninstalled the program using the Add/Remove programs technique and then re-installed the program and it re-loaded with the same problem. I then uninstalled the program again and went in to the Windows registry and manually deleted any left over entries referring to KDDI Labs and MPEG Edit. I re-installed the program and it re-loaded with the same problem.
I have searched all over the internet for a solution and have found nothing helpful. The KDDI website refers all problems with the LE version of this software back to JVC for support. I have not tried to contact JVC directly yet, because I would have to call during the day from work and I do not have the software loaded on a computer at work.
I know that JVC technicians monitor this site so I was hoping for some ideas for a solution. Thanks.

Gordon, have you checked your XP font settings under 'Display Settings'
It's possible something (software) or someone..... has altered the sytem font to something without enough glyphs for full system display, in which case Windows substitutes.
Of course you don't mention whether this is affecting any other programs.
If you check, and the answer is yes - then it's a system wide problem, likely solved by changing the font in the 'Display Settings' options I mentioned above to something like 'Tahoma' font (or Arial).
If no other program exhibits this behaviour it's a MPEG Edit Studio specific problem - which I doubt from the symptoms you describe, but it pays to understand what the actual problem is and what else iis affected before jumping to conclusions.
BTW the only time I've ever seen this behaviour on any machine - both PC and Mac is when someone has changed the system font setting. If it was another program that did it I'd call it a virus!!!

S Criz,
I have looked under display settings and I did it again tonight after reading your post. I've changed a couple, just to see what happens, but the changes here just seem to effect the fonts and point size in the actual Windows XP "window panes" themselves. And even with my problem in MPEG Edit Studio the actual Windows XP fonts on the top of the "Active and Inactive" panes and Menu bar are OK. It seems to be a problem in the MPEG Edit program itself.
Thanks for you help.
