help with analog to digital conversion

i am using a sony dcr-trv250 camera and am wondering if there's any way to use it to put an old analog hi8 tape onto my computer. I know this is possible with the 350 model but is there any possible way of doing this with mine? Thanks very much

I am not familiar with the dcr-trv250 but from my experience the possible options are:
1. Play the Hi8 unit into a MiniDV camcorder taping on MiniDV tape. I have done this for short Hi8 clips which I gathered up and was the most convenient at the time.

2. Play the Hi8 unit through a MiniDV camcorder which has a "Pass Through" to a computer. I have only done a few times because I started using option 3.

3. Use a Digital8 camcorder which has Hi8/8mm playback capability. I use the Sony DCR-TRV460.

4. Use a capture card. I tried this on a friends computer last year and the results were unsatisfactory for me. I had a system with an older (1999) ATI card and the results were unsatisfactory for me. I considered buying a Canopus ADVC 300 however I went with the DCR-TRV460 instead.
