Lightbulb Spoke w/Hitachi Tech Support yesterday...

I told the tech about one of the people on this forum having problems with their disc developing errors while finalizing, and not being able to access their data. She directed me to a website with the URL of www.cdroller.com she said that there was a fix for that problem there, and that it works. So, I'm passing this information along that others might be aware of it.

She also mentioned that the DZ-MV580A seems to be very sensitive to the correct brand of disc being used. The camera was designed to utilize Maxell discs, and she said that other brands will not work properly generally speaking. Also, be sure to use those designated as DVD-R, and not DVD+R.

I also asked her about the comparison of using SD memory as opposed to MMC cards. She stated that the SD Memory cards seemed to work better.

Anyway, thought I would share that bit of info with the group in hopes it might help someone else.

Bill

hitatchi error codes

Bill,
well i have spoke with hitatchi tech support more times than i can count even sent back the maxell discs that they recooommended using and still have that error code, on every other dvd the shame is yes cdroller you can use however to pull data from them for a 30 min dvd is about 300.00, and let me tell you i have only owned this camcorder for less than 2 yrs and paid like 900.00, so my advice is for everyone out there if you have a warranty or can return the product get rid of it, they are crap and i have several dvds that are ruined with footage of my sons first steps etc, and im litterally sick, and more mad than anything, that hitatchi won't address the problem and take care of the customers, i had a friend that had a cannon and had some problems and called there tech support not only did they apologize they replaced the parts for free, now that is the kind of service im talking about thanks hope this helps michelle.

I have had major problems with my Hitachi DZ-MV730A. Every time I put in a new Maxell DVD-R disc which is what they tell me to use I always get an error message when I try to replay or review on the thumbnail. The message is crack'repair disc dirty etc..I shouldn't say all the time but most of the time. I wish I knew about message boards before I bought the bloody thing. Hitachi is no help. They said they have never heard of this problem. Baloney everyone on here has a very similiar problem. I will never buy Hitachi again.
