C31:22 Reinsert the cassette error

Hello world!! This is my first post. I wish it could be under better circumstances. My PC350 keep on flashing this error code and message whenever I try to take video. I have found that this is commonly a tape problem, but I have tried 3 tapes now.

Any ideas?

Are you using an accessory battery or Sony? I had similar problem using a third party battery while shooting underwater in Maui. I came up and changed the battery and everything was fine.
Good Luck,
Rick

P.S. I looked in my manual for the specific code and found C32 is for cleaning the head. I'm sure you already tried that, but thought it might help.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am using a sony battery and I just tried cleaning the head with no luck. My next question is ...

Sony wants $270 to fix the camera. An in-town independant repair shop said that they will look at the camera no charge and usually the repairs are around $100. Has anyone ever gone to an independant repair shop to repair their camcorder?

Here is my story…. I own a PC 350...10 months ago I had drop my camera and it hit my foot, then landing on the tile floor. The tape would not open. The tape mechanism was jammed..... ... I had only owned it for 2 months...So I went to the Sony service and ask how much it was to repair. A min $150 Canadian to repair any Sony product. The front clerk told me to wait and she would get a technician to look at it. She came back with an update that the technician was looking up new parts for the camera. She said the parts could add up over $200 plus the min service charge. Again, waiting for the final estimate, as I was beating myself up for being so careless. Then the clerk came back with my camera and said the technician was able to reline the tape mechanism and it works fine. Yippee! As I was thinking to myself, at least I save on getting new parts. I asked how much for the service charge. She said NO CHARGE! Early Christmas present! The Camcorder works perfect!
Good luck in your repair!

Question "Accessory OR Sony"? Huh?

Hey, ff/pm_mckinley,

What do you mean by "accessory battery or Sony"? All batteries, whether Sony or not, and whether they come with the equipment or not, are accessories--unless they're buit right into the unit (nonremovable batteries, such as the ones in a rechargeable shaver). So wouldn't it make more sense to ask if the battery Blowe is using is either a Sony one or a 3rd-party one (and yeah, I saw that you mentioned 3rd-party down there)? Yeah, I think so.

Now something I wonder is how what kind of battery used could affect something that's really about a tape problem. How can a battery issue affect that?
