DZ-MV730A Copying disc to disc
We have only had this camcorder for a few months and I have 2 full miniDVD-R's and would like to copy the entire contents to a full size DVD-R.
Is this possible?
When I put the mini dvd in my computer it says it is not accessible and when I put into our regular dvd player it just tries to load without success.
I am running XP and I have an LG GSA-4120B.
After we are done with the mini DVD-r we will be using the Mini DVD ram and I am wondering will I have the same problem?
This is all footage of my daughter so I have no need to edit! I just want to get it from small disc to large.
I really appreciate any and all help!
TIA

Finalize discs
I am a novice like you but my Instruction Manual says the DVD Rs have to be finalized before they can be played on a DVD player. Hope that it is as simple as that.

I have the DZ-MV750MA and after I recorded onto DVD-R discs, I had to finalize the disc with the camera and import the video using software other than the Hitachi software.
I use Xilisoft DVD -> WMV converter.
This camera was a Christmas present. I would never purchase Hitachi for myself, after the experience I've had with this piece of _.

Couple of suggestions
Hi folks.
I have had an Hitachi dvd-cam (550a) since 2004 and it kicks the snot out of some newer models from other manufacturers with its quality of recording and especially its sound recording. I handle the video for our newspaper group's Columbus division and this site has been a godsend for helping me to learn what the heck I was doing because I was extremely clueless when I started. Now, I am only somewhat clueless.
Anyhow, we have the Sony 60-gig hard drive camcorders and they are fine, but the picture quality and sound quality on my old Hitachi is head and shoulders superior in my opinion, but to each his own, eh?
I have only had trouble once trying to finalize a mini-DVD in the camcorder, but because of that I cover my behind by burning a master copy on a full-sized dvd before I try to finalize.
I would suggest if you have a stand-alone dvd recorder (such as the Sony DVDirect which I have or one of their newer models), you do not need to finalize the discs. I just hookup the camcorder and burn the dvd in real time by playing it in the camcorder while it is being recorded by the dvd recorder.
You could also do this by hooking up to TV and recording with a DVD recorder or VHS/DVD combo unit hooked up to your TV.
I, too, however am now using the mini DVD-ram discs (Verbatim dual sided works the best for me) because they are almost like mini-harddrives and they can be uploaded to editing software very quickly and used over and over and over.
I use CyberLink Power Director 6 (and prior to getting it, I used Nero 8's package which does have some limited editing capabilities, but there are more bells and whistles with PD-6) to edit, add titles and subtitles etc.
At work we use Adobe Premiere Elements 4. It is a fantastic program, however some things such as multi-trimming of the same clip and such in PD-6 is more desirable for me.
