Ulead Media Studio Pro 8 has been out for quite a while now. I couldn't find an exact announcement date or release date but this is not a new product.

Using trial version

I am using the 30 day trial version and I find it very user freindly but I have a very big problem when I bring in the source as Avi from panasonic camera and play the cip in the source window it is clear.
I then play the clip in the preview window it is is jumpy on like waterfall is horrible. This i think then translates to the Mpeg 2 encoder and it looks like complete rubbish. I dont know how to fix this and I was thinking of purchasing this software but it does not allow me to keep some sanity in the final product. I am perhaps doing something wrong how would I know. I also have videostudio8 and moviemaker and that encoding was a complete disaster. I use nero and the dvd was a 100 times better than the Ulead encoded. The Pc I am using is a AMD X2 64
3800+ dual core 2gigs ram 1 X patadrive 250 gigs 1 x sata 200 gig and a nvidia 6600 graphics pci card. I suspect that this triial version might be downgraded ,if so then how do you trust original.

To succeed, the user of Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0 must learn to select the correct editing template.

If you're editing DV .avi files, then you need to select the DV .avi editing template.

If you're editing MPEG files, then you need to select an MPEG editing template.

The KEY is to select a template with FILE PROPERTIES THAT MATCH the properties of your source video.

For example, if you are working with DV .avi files that have the following properties...

# NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps) Field Order A
# Microsoft AVI Files
# 24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
# DV Video Encoder -- type 1
# DV Audio -- NTSC, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

...then adjust your template to match.

I have a tutorial for version 7.0 of MediaStudio Pro that still applies to version 8.0:

P.S. By selecting the correct editing template, you tell the software not to re-render ALL of your original files. What will happen instead is that when you play the PREVIEW window, you will hopefully have adjusted the software to limit rendering only to titles, transitions, filters, and any CHANGE to the original video that you make during your editing.

If you make no changes to the original video, then you should be able to play the PREVIEW window and see an immediate playback of the original files with NO changes.

If you add titles, then you should see playback of the original video files up to the point where the title was inserted - and then the rendering of the title will take place.

You can adjust the software to playback through the PREVIEW window in different ways:

1. INSTANT PLAYBACK: where you get real time preview of effects with out fully rendering;

2. HIGH QUALITY PLAYBACK: where you wait for CHANGES to render and you get a fully rendered, high quality playback.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Jerry

I have now done this and the rendered AVI is almost as original. The video is a little tricky as it is taken in a thick bush are of all green leaves and quite alot of movement. The Ulead now encoder the mpeg2 jumps like a old movie projecter. . I am happy though with the powerproducer gold and the nero so I will wait until I see a better encoder plug in or I will just practise on the settings till I get it right.
I have videostudio 8 dvd and it seems this and the mediastudio use the same encoder and same result. I have read on the forum dont use the editer to render your DVD because they are not good, but I cant belive that.
