loose ilink connection?

i tried 2 seperate fire wires i have 4 pin to 4 and 4 to 6 that i have used with my canon gl1 wich work fine, but im worroied about my fx1 .. the 4 to 6 pin you really have to get it just perfect for it to work and the 4 to 4 work pretty well but you need to push it left or right at times..
has anyone encountered this? on both camcorders the 4 to 6 shows alot of jiggle room and the 4 to 4 stays in pretty solid, but im thinking if it was a fire wire problem the canon would have the same problem as the fx1!

what brand of fire wire are you guys using with your fx1? i wouldnt mind buying new wire , but would hate to waste money on it if its not the problem!

also the hd , dv ilink jack on the cam looks easy to replace if you could buy the part, sony wants 500 bucks for anything fixed i think.. anyone ever buy a replacement part and fix something themselves, is it possible to even buy that part?

ok i called sony parts and the part cost 16 bucks but has to be soderd to the mounted c board, they also sell the c board with the jack already sodered for 35 bucks, now if you send it it to sony its gonna probally cost 500 bucks wich i dont have.
i would guess this is something i should not be trying to myself, so is there someplace that does repairs for say 100 bucks?
