"Failed Writing to Disk" using One Touch Burn

I just purchased the DCR SR100 and my first attempt to use the One Touch DVD Burn funtion resulted in the following message "Failed Writing to Disk."

The ImageMixer software appears to go through the entire writing process and then at the very end displays this message. I'm using DVD-R disks and have tried multiple brands. USB 2.0, Windows XP, Sony internal DVD burner drive.

Any suggestions?

I am having the Fail Disc Problem with my DCR-SR100

I am having the same Fail Writing to Disc Problem. I am using Sony DVD's. I am going to disconnect my USB mouse to see if it makes Burn. I will let you know the result later. If it isn't the mouse did you register the software. Perhaps they have a fix on some new update???

I didn't register mine yet as they were asking for some warranty code or product registration code. I don't remember seeing anything except a Sony Limited warranty card. I registered on-line and got a 15% coupon number and registration confirmation.

Depending on the specs of your computer, you may have to revert to the olden days of burning disks, i.e. you may have to terminate all unnecessary processes and or applications that may be running. But there are many factors that could cause this issue. I would start by right-clicking and stopping everything in the task bar that you can (check your start up folder too). Then try it. Sometimes just being connected to the internet can cause problems too.
Also you could try to burn a +R disk and see how that goes for you. I think the ImageMixer software will burn clips from the computer too so you may need to copy them over and try burning too. The act of carrying them from the camera to the burner may be the heart of the problem.
Sorry there's nothing definitive but there are just so many reasons why you could get this error. These are the steps I go through whenever I see this error.

Failure to complete a One-Touch Burn? >>>> Way around One Copy Burn?

I did mananage to complete my first One Touch burn only after I changed to a DVD+R. I could only get to the 40% burn then it would stop when I used Sony DVD-R's. i ALWAYS TURN OFF THE INTERNET WHEN I DO A BURN.

Last night I turned off my Internet (I block all Internet in and out with Norton). I then tried a one touch burn which worked beautifully until it got to 99%. It had completed all the copy and was in the process of Closing the files when it gave the failed Disk error. This is not good as I don't know if I completed by one copy only of a digital archive DVD.

I will have to spend more time tonight.

Is there anyway around the 1 copy only bu one touch DVD burning. This is my camera work and I want to archive the raw images before I edit and start playing with a story board etc.??????

I'm thinking now Norton could be the probelm. I've had problems with Nortons before. But you can burn a video DVD with just about any software you feel comfortable with. The files are already MPEG2 which are ready for DVD (meaning no long conversion times).
I don't know if you can sideline Nortons completely but see if you can and try that.
And you can also just burn the files straight to a DVD like any other files. You can copy them over to burn later if you want too. I back up my video clips to two external drives as well as DVDs (I'm paranoid about losing files due to crashes).
But once again, it's tough to say what's causing the problem and what to do to fix it. You have to just run the list and eliminate the maybes. Sorry to hear you're having problems, though.
