problems downloading video

I recently purchased a jvc model gz-mg20u and so far I love the camera. However I have a problem I have been unable to download any video from my camera's built in hd to my computer for burning. I have succesfully downloaded and copied to dvd many hours of movies from the media card to the computer. However every time i try to download the video from the camera's harddisk to my computer it isn't there! At least it isn't in the folder on my computer where it should be.....I disconnect the camera from my computer to make sure that it is still there and yep it is! However once I reconnect my camera to my computer it isn't there anymore....at least it has never showed up on my computer! Please help me! I have contacted jvc's tech support site and they don't provide any answers! So, if you guys can help or offer any guidance it would be greatly appreciated!
Trey

Couple questions:
Are you using Win XP?
Does your operating system recognize the camera? Does it show up under my computer as EVERIO_HDD? If the SD card is in there that should also show up under another icon as a removable disk.

If both of these are yes, then:
double click on Everio_HDD
you should see folders: EXTMOV, PRIVATE, and SD_VIDEO
double click on the SD_VIDEO icon
From there you should see two folders, MGR_INFO and PRG001
double click on PRG001
At this point, since you are having problems, I would go to the top of the window and click on Tools/Folder Options. Click on the View tab
under advanced settings you should see a box that says, Show hidden files and folders, I would check that. Click ok
Now as icons you should see several different icons.
you may see a .PGI icon and a .MOI icon. I dont know what they are for, the camera creates them for every shot. I delete them, I dont konw if they have value or not.
you should also see an icon called MOV001 that will be a MOD file.
That is your clip. If you have several, those are your clips.
If you have several I would do this:
Click on View, and click on Details,
Then click on view, go to arrange icons by, and click on Size. That will seperate the different file types.
You can use the PowerDVD that came with the camera to view the movies.

Now I know very little about this, I know everything I put there is basic, you may have done all of that. You didnt specify what you have tried to I am giving you this.

If it still does not work, keep posting, someone will help.

Brad

Angry Problems Downloading Camcorder to PC

I've read this problem Trey was having. When I bought the camcorder, it worked fine. I plugged it in to the PC and it downloaded fine. Now, when I plug it in, nothing. My folders come up, but it won't download to the PC. I called the JVC Tech, and he said to open a new folder and split the screen and drag it to the folder. It was all too techy for me. Didn't understand a word he said. I don't think he understood that it won't download to the PC. I make a new folder, it's empty. The access light never comes on when I plug it in. It flashes blue when it downloads. What made it quit ? All my old videos are still in folders. But, I have a lot of new video on the camcorder. I even tried to put the card in the PC and through the printer. And nothing. This is so anoying. I love my new camcorder, but I'm about ready to throw it in the trash. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hey... Your info is good but I can't open my files that are showing. It tells me my file is damaged or unsupported format. I tried opening them with other programs but it tells me it dosen't recognize the file type. It can't tell what created it. Any help would be appreciated. Kevin

Have you installed the PowerDVD that came with the camera? Power DVD should play the files right off the camera. I have not messed with my camera in a couple months. When I get home this week I will try and help more.
