Yes, you can expect a new model of the HVX series. But, who knows what features other than Intraframe H.264 it will have?

New HVX200 Model

I understand that the current model of the AG-HVX200 will not have the capability to use the upcoming 16GB and 32GB P2 cards. Hopefully, a new model will address that.

I recently asked Panasonic's Tech Help about this, and their response was, "The hvx 200 will need to have the firmware updated for it to work with the new 16 GB cards…You will need to contact Firestore for any of there updates."

Did anyone go to NAB? Was there in fact a new model (AG-HVX200B?) in the works? If so, how soon will it be released?

Well it looks like the HVX200 hasn't been updated. I don't know if I'm right but it just seems from all the info regarding the NAB 2007 I have not read of any improvements or changes to the HVX200. What's sad is that Canon and Sony are killing the HD market with the $3,000.000 USD range and Panasonic only offers the HVX200 and the new AVCHD camcorder that suffers heavy compression with little physical manual controls. I wish Panasonic could throw a $3,000-4,000 USD HD camcorder out there with P2 capability with HDMI port and the manual control of the AG-DVC30. It seems like the there is such a gap and the new Panasonic HD camcorder doesn't justify its price tag when the A1 or V1 isn't to far off with a wealth of features. I'm true to Panasonic but it looks like I might be leaving the Panasonic bandwagon in search of a better HD camcorder with more features.

There is now a firmware update available that will allow the current HVX-200 to work with the new 16gb P2 cards. It is likely the same will occur when the 32gb cards come out.

As for the HVX vs other cameras, keep in mind that it still has some features that none of the competition (in it's price range or lower, anyway) have. Here's a few of the bigger ones:

1) 4:2:2 color space

2) Solid state recording

3) True variable frame rates

4) Uncompressed PCM audio recording
