Womble MPEGDVD vs Ulead vs10 vs Nero7

I've been working with all three. Here is what I learned.

Nero7 - Good for burning and has limited editing, good for simple capture and burns

Ulead - nice user interface and integrated burner but it looks a lot better than it actually works, you'll spend alot of time importing, converting, etc, very difficult to work with multiple clips, playback in the editor is choppy, has the capability to do what you need but seriously the thing is just quirky and buggy, extremely difficult to get it to actually edit video and cut and copy clips, transitions, etc

Womble - At first the interface is a bit complicated and not as graphical as the other tools but man once you learn it and learn some of the shortcuts, you'll never want to use anything else, it is so fast and working with large clips and multiple clips is amazing, quick imports of source video, only downside is no integrated burner but it does have dvd authoring capabilities and i plan to use nero7 that came with my dvd burner to actually burn the dvd, i havent quite mastered making good titles and chapters but i think it has the capability

other opinions?

I also use all three and agree with your findings, except that I havn't found VS10+ buggy (quirky - yes), just slower than Womble on a lower spec system. I like VS10's DVD authoring, and tend to use it in preference to Nero, but that is just a personal preference. If I just need to bang some clips together and cut some bits, I fire up Womble because it is just so much quicker.

I agree. I've tried all 3 authors (among others ) and Womble for me (I'm still learning stuff) is good. Maybe it's built best for beginners, I don't know.

My question, is that I edited some video using Womble and here are the files that I want to burn to a disk using Nero:
Quote:
video_ts.bup
video_ts.ifo
vts_01_0.bup
vts_01_0.ifo
vts_01_1.vob

It says in Nero that this isn't recognized. It's a dvd format, no? Anyone know why I can't burn this to a dvd-r on my /E drive burner?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I ended up going with Nero so I don't know if your plan worked or not although it does make sense. I like Womble but I needed a burner and I don't see my wife agreeing to buying both, lol.

The last step when using Womble after you do all your editing is to export the file into a DVD format. You do this by selecting the DVD tab and then clicking on "Export". The files will then be saved into a "Video_TS" folder which you can use to burn to CD using Nero or another burning software. It's pretty well explained in the Womble users manual.

Fortunately for me, my computer actually came preloaded with Nero as it has a CD / DVD burner.
