PD170 audio issues/ zoom motor problems

Hi,

I'm a new PD 170 user and I'm experiencing problems with the on board mic picking up the sound from the zoom motor. I've tried loosening clamps, changing settings etc to no avail, and I'm running out of ideas. A friend has the same camera but is not experiencing this problem.

My mic options are limited as I'm an amateur doc maker who doesn't work with a crew, I need to use onboard mic and radio/clip mike only.

Has anybody experienced similar problems/ got any advice.

Try a hotshoe shock mount

I had the same problem with zoom motor noise using the onboard mic adapter. I solved it by spending $40 on a Rode hotshoe shock mount. Works great.
