Wide Angle Lens

I had posted in the general forum, but it got moved here a week ago and I see no replys, so I thought I would repost.

I JUST purchased the 505...have not used it yet, but with much anticipation will use it this weekend to tape High School Dance Competition. I am in the bleachers when I tape. I did want to get a wide angle lens, because I do tape for the coach's and they critique from this. However, the posts I received were very negative in that aspect, saying the quality would be poor if I put on an artifical lense.

Can I get some input on this? Also, what are the best setting you suggest, from experience, for taping a competition in which I am half-way up the bleachers taping the floor. What setting should I have it on? I've done the reading, but people who have experience are the best source of knowledge!!!

Thanks for anyone's input, I appreciate it!!! I have great expectations out of the 505!!
