Firewire problems (FCP doesnt "see" my XL-2 when attempting to capture from)

Hello,
I have a tape that will only play glitch-free if coming from the XL-2 with which it was recorded. My DSR-25 deck causes the audio to quickly drop out on a part that I must capture clean. My only solution is to capture from the XL-2 but the problem is that when I take the cable out of the deck and use it with the XL-2, FCP will not "see" my XL-2. I have tried changing out firewire cables and I get the same problem. Any advice on a solution? I am on a real time crunch here and am pretty desperate for a fix. Thank you.

Reed T.

Make sure the camera is in VCR mode and the cable is firmly connected. In FCP, try choosing View>Refresh A/V devices.
If that still doesn't work, try making sure the setting are correct for DV.

From the Final Cut Pro menu, choose >Easy Setup>DV NTSC

Also try another Firewire cable.

Or you can dub onto a new tape from the Canon to the Sony via a 4pin - 4 pin FireWire cable.

Hope this helps,
