PAL video through NTSC cam

I have a PC109 mini DV camcorder(NTSC). And I have a miniDV tape, which is recorded in PAL standard which was recorded on a different pro cam.

My PC109 play back the tape normally and also AV out it on a dual mode(NTSC/PAL) TV at my parent's house. But when I connect it to my TV (which I think is only NTSC), it plays abnormally.

Anyway, I want to capture this video on PC and make DVD. But again it plays abnormally on my PC. I used fire wire to connect. All my tapes recorded on my cam capture normally on my PC.

What should I do to get the video right on my PC. I hope there must be some way to ge the PAL video through a NTSC camcorder on the PC because it plays well on the camcorder itself.

thankyou.

PAL and NTSC uses different frame rate and frame size for standard 4X3 ratio, 25 vs. 30/fps and 720X576 vs. 720X480/pixels, respectively. There are many ways to convert from one standard to the other, typically used by European vs North American.

Converting PAL to NTSC
The converse situation applies to PAL to NTSC conversions. 576 lines of resolution are downconverted to 480 lines of resolution, and frames need to be inserted to go from the 25 frames per second of PAL to the 30 frames per second of NTSC. Once again, the resultant image is of less actual resolution than the original image, as information is discarded spatially and made up temporally...Artiles PALvsNTSC

If you like to capture the video as NTSC from PAL format, there are many video editing software can do that, I'm fairly certain, including Windows Movie Maker with XP operating system(I know you can capture/convert from NTSC to PAL, for certain) Open the tool option of WMM and save it in the format you wish.

If you wish to convert media that are already in the PAL format then you probably want to go though different process. Here is some guides, many are freewares:

********* EDIT************

I’m editing this post because rereading the original question; apparently the tape is being played back in the differently formatted machine, not the original machine that shot the video. If this is the case, I’m not sure you can convert it the way I described. I’m sure you can save it to another format if you have the original camcorder. If you don’t get a good answer, you may want to post this in the computer section of this forum.

kshrine,

Is it not possible to capture in the NTSC format?? I dont want to convert PAL to NTSC. Is it possible to capture the video just as it is in the original PAL format. I am OK with that.
