Question about Womble software for editing dvd footage
I have seen threads here in the forums that recommend Womble for editing footage on the computer that is recorded on a dvd-ram disc.
I have a Panasonic vdr-m50pp and am unsure of which Womble program to go for.
There is a MPEG Video Wizard DVD program and also a MPEG Video Wizard program. Would either one of these be good? From the descriptions on their website, it gives no indication of what major differences exist between the two.
I have received a 30-day trial of the MPEG Video Wizard (the one w/out the dvd suffix) but I haven't yet had much time to try it out, and would like to know if I'm wasting my time and should go for the other one.

Hi - I use the DVD version. It will convert your joined MPEG files to DVD Files (Video_TS) that can then be directly burned to a DVD using a third party burning software. I believe that's you cannto convert them to DVD format using the Video Wizard.
It's also available for a free 30 day trial. I started the trial when I knew I'd have some time to play with it. I'd also suggest that you download the users guide (PDF format) from the Womble website. It's well written and makes using the program much easier.
Good luck.

edit: Would the program I already have be better if I'm more interested in editing the video, saving it on my computer, and then uploading it to a website like Youtube?
If I wanted to do this, would it be best to use the program you suggested, then get another program that converts to yet another format?
Also I haven't had time to play much with the program, but when I save the changes to a video, what format would it save the video to on the computer? The same as what it reads it off the camcorder/dvd-ram disc (vob I believe)?
Thanks a lot for replying so quickly. I read the pdf document last night, and today I was able to add music to a small video I made today. That's the main thing I'm concerned about, cutting up segments of video (I'm trying to film some bike riding I'm doing) and add music.
If you say that the dvd version is best, I'll take your word for it. I assumed that was the one to go for, but in the threads I found on these forums, nobody mentioned a "dvd" suffix at the end of the Womble program's name, so I was unsure. When this 30-day trial runs out, I'll give the other one a try.
Thanks again for your help.

I have not posted any video to an online site. I've just used Womble to edit and join video from the DCR SR100 and to add picture slide shows and music to the DVD. For this, Womble has been great. Again, good luck.

The non DVD version of Womble does not encode audio to AC-3.
The DVD version gives you AC-3 stereo and 5.1 options.
