Post First JVC GZ-HD7 pre-production model in use

I'm kinda sad.. I expected a lot from the first HD Everio, but now this.
A german magazine tested a pre-production model of the NTSC JVC GZ-HD7.

Here is what they had to say:

They also posted an update with sample images which made me sad:

For me the video quality has highest priority and that seems to be a
real downfall with the JVC, I guess the Canon HV20 wins hands down.

Yeah they pronounce that it WON'T be the final video quality,
but It has to get A LOT better than this...

This looks the same as my GS500 on 2MP -- interpolations owned you. This method is also used on the HVX200 too. This pixel shift is much better than my GS500 though. In video mode you won't notice the noise as much, and low light will probably be a good test for this cam.

Thumbs up

I have a lot of hope & confidence in JVC. I think this is the break thru model that everyone has been waiting for. This will deliver the quality that we expect from HD/3CCD technology.

I am only hoping that prices would drop down to the levels of average consumer. I'll order when prices are in the $600-$800 range.

Texas-Pacific-Group-to-Buy-JVC

"Matsushita, the parent company of JVC has accepted an offer by TPG (Texas Pacific Group), a U.S. private equity firm to acquire its JVC subsidiary. According to EETimes, the two companies are in active talks to conclude the deal by the end of this month."

I was reading this artical, and I have one question, I wanted to buy new JVC GZHD7, but after reading this news I am affriad. It is still advisable to buy? What about service & parts?

I just saw JVC GZ-HD7 listed as "In Stock" on Henrys.com . I am hoping we will see a real review of a production model soon.
