Hadn't used the PDX-10 in a bit and now none of the Computers Mac/PC seem to recognize the PDX-10 (connecting via the iLink/Firewire). I've tried different cables, FCE HD/Imovie etc. Sony seems to charge a flat-rate of $575 to refurbish this camcorder. It was bought in 2004 and is in great condition otherwise. Is there something else I can do to check the status of the iLink? (The USB port seems to work)? Also, if I record in DV on a PDX-10, but play back on a HDR-HC1 (HDV camcorder), do you get the same data out (I would guess that playing back a DV on any camcorder should be the same - capture might depend on the specific device). $575 seems like a lot - I was trying to see if there is any other option (affordable DV player etc.)

Any help from others who have noticed similar problems is greatly appreciated
