Smile A good HD product

I am exhilirated to read about this new JVC model with a larger hard-drive (60 GB) and having the looks of a larger professional camcorder, available in the marketplace in April. The current price is higher for an average consumer, but I am sure by December shopping season the price would drop down to $600-$800 range.

I am looking forward to switching to this product from my Hitachi DZ-MV380A DVD-RAM Camcorder.

Will JVC HD7 beat Canon HV20?

I called Canon & JVC both, Canon will available from 24th March and JVC supposes to be available in last week of March, but shipment got delayed and will now available from 15th April.

Texas-Pacific-Group-to-Buy-JVC

"Matsushita, the parent company of JVC has accepted an offer by TPG (Texas Pacific Group), a U.S. private equity firm to acquire its JVC subsidiary. According to EETimes, the two companies are in active talks to conclude the deal by the end of this month."

I was reading this artical, and I have one question, I wanted to buy new JVC GZHD7, but after reading this news I am affriad. It is still advisable to buy? What about service & parts?

JCV GZHD7, is it safe to buy from Japan?

Dear Mr. Guy,

You must have seen Canon & JVC's performance, now what is your opinion? Which is better? I found Canon's videos brighter than JVC, and I don't know its real or artificial light! JVC is also looking stunning and it is very difficult to tell which is better. I found Canon's videos are cool (bluesh tone) and JVC is producing warm colour.

And is it safe to buy from Japan? I mean Japanese model? What are disadvantage if we buy Non- US model? I guess all buttons on body are in Japanese language, but we can set menu in English and what about CD software, it is very important, it has to be in English, and that small credit card size remote will also in Japanese language.

It is available at eBay and price is $1299 + $50. I want your view on this. We don't know when JVC available here, and I have only 2 weeks left.

Kindly reply, thanks.

Rush,
I have not handled the JVC so I can't really make a comparison. If you need a high def camcorder now, get the Canon HV20.

I wouldn't buy from a Japanese dealer because you have no warranty, plus all the controls and software is in Japanese, even if you can select English in the menus.
