Panasonic AG-DVC20

Hello all! I bought a DVC20 a few weeks ago and wanted to tell everybody how I liked it .

First of all, let me validate my position. I am not an amateur. Then again I am not a full-fledged professional. My job is in multimedia, more specifically, 3d animation. So, basically ''I know what I'm doing, and I get paid for it sometimes, but I still have a lot to learn''. If you get what I mean.

That said, I looked around a lot before I bought. I decided on the DVC20 and am very happy I bought it. Several forums had some pretty negative stuff about it, but some articles praised it highly. The big issues were apparently ruggedness and the lack of an XLR audio input. I can see where people don't like the lack of an XLR port but it doesn't bother me since I have an audio recording setup with enough adaptors and mixers to eliminate that problem. Plus the built-in mic is one of the best ones I've found for being built-in.

And ruggedness: this thing is VERY rugged. It's about 5 pounds, but probably a little more with batteries and hood and mic and stuff. It doesn't flex like most of the lower grade consumer cams I have handled.

Also I am very pleased with the video quality. It's very clear. I would say that this camera equals or surpasses say the Canon GL2. I will probably get flamed for saying this, but: I think that the quality is better than a friend's GS400.

After saying all that, I'd like to know why some people don't seem to care for this camera. For $1300, this was an incredible value. I have a suspicion that most of the people who are against this camera haven't actually used it.

EDIT: By the way, lest some have suspicions, no, I am not in any way affiliated with Panasonic. Really. Cross my heart.

I want one

I want to buy a new camcorder I have a PV-GS400 I am thinking in the ag-dvc20 or the hvr-hd1000u Sony.

Some people say horrible things above the ag-dvc20, Lack the XLR is the most common.
This is not problem for me because I use an external digital recorder
Zoom H2.

If you know where I can see some footage with the ag-dvc20 let me know.
