HV20 footage with 35mm adapter (Brevis35) and Canon lenses

Here is a clip of hv20 with a brevis35 35mm adapter. They've used Canon 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 135mm f2, and 35mm f1.4 lenses and 24p mode for this shot. Using a 35mm adapter gives a very film like look. Right click and save.

I guess by using the adapter one can just forget about the AF function. Or do I assume wrongly?

You are right. The way these adapters work is, you have to zoom to a screen inside the adapter and adjust focus. It is basically like recording a film from a movie screen that is 35mm in size. After that you don't touch zoom or focus on the camcorder and do all these adjustments using the lens. So you may need to use different lenses for different situations or you can use a zoom lens. The other drawback is it inverts the video so you see the video upside down on the LCD or viewfinder. You may need to connect a reversed LCD screen to video out port to aviod confusion during recording. This is the way to get a more film like look. And I think it is worth it. These systems do an amazing job IMO.

vsansal and n00b,

It seems that you guys are talking in a language other than english!
I am not that into the cams.
But I have to find out if HV20 is worth buying.
Is that the best value-for-money digital cam in the market?
And what will be its price when its released?

Your prompt replies are appreciated guys, this will be a present for someone.

hurray!

Thx, KYMRA

I think it is the best consumer HD camcorder in the market right now. It is released and you can buy it for $1100 but if you are not in a hurry for buying one, I would suggest you to wait some time and the prices will come down.

If you don't set up the adapter well and zoom enough inside the adapter, you may have problems like that also you will get vignetting.
