XL1 debate - keep or sell
Hello,
I have a question that I would invite opinions on...
Last week I bought the Canon HV20 and I don't see myself using the XL1 now.
With HD coming out of the shadows, will these mini dv cams be worth anything???
I'm a still photographer and made the switch to digital,,,
BUT hung on to a few film cameras which are now worthless "so to speak" and I never used them again...
Hindsight says "I should have sold them", too late now.
I'm just wondering what the mindset is on mini dv like the XL1.
So the questions on my mind are,,,
Is the XL1 worth keeping?
What is the going value and is it dropping like a stone?

I worry about the same thing. I have a GL2 and an XL1 for a videography business, and i'm not sure how soon I need to make the switch to HD. Right now it just seems so expensive, and the technology for playing HD or BLU-Ray discs is non-existent. Until it becomes mainstream to have these players (or HD burners for that matter) I would think the price for these SD cameras will stay relatively high.
(BTW, Last I checked, you can get a decent XL1 for around $1500 on ebay)

Hmmm,
I think the inactivity on the XL1-2 forum reinforces what I was thinking...
It might be time to jump ship...
